The University of Sydney has announced major changes to the entry criteria for its Computer Science and Master of Computer Science (Advanced) programmes, In particular, the admission conditions for Chinese students have become stricter, and the new policy will be implemented from December 1, 2024, and Lu Moto students who want to study at the University of Sydney should pay attention.


Significant improvement in GPA


According to the latest notice of the University of Sydney, from December 1, 2024, the GPA admission threshold for applicants in Computer science and Advanced Computer Science Master's programs (including students from non-211 institutions) in China will be raised from 80 to 87 points. This change applies to new applications submitted on or after December 1, as well as students who have been accepted but decide to reapply. All applications submitted before this time will be assessed by the University of Sydney maintaining the original admission criteria.

Student "deferred" + rejected

The University of Sydney has not only increased its GPA requirements, but also made a series of changes to its application system. It is understood that the number of places available for international students in the first semester of 2025 is extremely limited, so the university has advised some students to consider applying for the second semester. At the same time, the University of Sydney has revamped its existing application process to make offers on a roundranking basis. If the applicant's ranking does not meet the requirements, the school will directly reject the application and notify me.

1. At present, the number of new international students in 2025 S1 is very limited, so students are advised to consider S2;


2. At present, S1 applications will continue to be processed, and all offers will be issued by rounc for ranking. If the ranking of students is not high enough, the school will inform the students to directly lapse offer;


3. Non-NOSC students are still encouraged to apply for S1;


4. The Portal system will be adjusted later, and S1 full courses will no longer be able to submit applications: 5.Starting from December 1, 2024, for the MasterofComputerScience related courses submitted later, Chinese students with double non-background requirements will be adjusted to 87(Previously submitted applications will be reviewed according to the old requirements)
